Åtta öststatskvinnor försvinner spårlöst från en flyktingförläggning i Stockholm. Runt, runt i tunnelbanenätet åker en nittioårig professor i sällskap med döden. En mobiltelefon ringer i en avsliten hand på ett tunnelbanespår.
